"This work responds to an environment that squeezes, pushes and thins the possibilities. It is not a sick body, it is a body produced by scarcity. Economic, affective and material precariousness translates into a tense anatomy. I seek to suggest that even in precariousness the body retains a minimum force that allows it to remain standing. For me, painting like this is refusing to beautify poverty, but also to erase it." - Fichu
