"This portrait is part of my A-Beings series, where I portray characters from my neighborhood who, with their gestures, stories, and contradictions, represent the living memory of Old Havana. Inspired by a man marked by the streets, prison, and alcohol, known for his incoherent and sexist speeches that made us laugh on street corners during the pandemic, his image went viral without him gaining any benefit. I paint these faces not to celebrate or condemn them, but to leave a record of their presence, their broken laughter, and the imperfect truth of my surroundings, because in it I find the need and the strength to paint."
